Go ahead laugh... we all know a cake face and that's what makes it funny. I too have had looks that could very easily adorn the cake face hall of shame. If you wear make up... it has probably happened to you too . You do your make up in the bathroom which has really crappy lighting. You look awesome. Leave the house feeling confidant. Your make up is on point! You get in the car pull down the visor.... and holy shit who is this looking back at you!? Its cake face.
Poor lighting. Foundation a shade too light or a shade too dark. A little heavy handed with the pressed powder... you look less like a model and more like a man that just hung drywall. So how do avoid looking like a cake face or worse... a clown!?
1. less is MORE! don't go over board.
2. Use a primer. My personal favorite is bare minerals but there are very inexpensive ones that work just as well like the Ulta brand primer. Primer not only helps your make up stay in place and last through out the day but it gives you a nice smooth surface to start with.
3. Use concealer ONLY in spots that really need it. Even then a little goes a long way so just dab and blend.
4. Make sure especially when it comes to foundation that you pick the correct color. Match your foundation to your skin tone... not your skin color. Yes there is a difference. Look at the inside of your wrist. If your veins appear very blue you have a cool skin tone. Green... an olive skin tone. If you can't see anything your neutral. Once you determine your tone it will be easier to find the group of shades you can safely pick from. For more even coverage use a sponge or brush instead of your hands.
5. Powder. Powder sets your foundation. Pressed powder gives heavy coverage while loose powder gives less bot I feel more even. Either one you choose you want to use it sparingly.
After your done you may want to add blush or bronzer. Bronzer should only be used in place the sun naturally colors your face the most like the bridge of your nose and cheekbones. It ismsupposed to give you a sun kissed look... not be a tan in a compact case.
And perhaps most important make sure you have ample light... makeup done in the dark can be scary in the sun :)
